Well, an interesting read into his thoughts and feelings during his brave actions. The first part is a bit too long and the second part is a bit too short but maybe there is room for Permanent Record (Part 2)? :-)

Tried to read it on my kindle but there was too much code to be good readable. He explained every technology in detail but I was not interested in that. It's definitely a good idea to work through it with an example project on your own.

Hard to understand. I had to switch to the German version, which was a little bit easier for me. The last third or so was exciting but the two thirds at the start were very confusing, especially due to the Chinese names.
I wouldn't have followed thru if I haven't heard from several people that the book was extremely good.
second read in 2024 Still like the book and his writing style. Lots of great ideas in it. Once again, the scatterfocus part is totally underrated. You need the balance to perform on your highest level.
My top 3 quotes from the book:
Their cellular radios aside, our phones have the same parts as a computer—but for some reason, perhaps because they provide us with so much stimulation and validation throughout the day, we allow them to interrupt us constantly, infinitely more than our computers. We shouldn’t give any shiny rectangular device so much power.
Attention without intention is wasted energy.
Being busy doesn’t make us productive. It doesn’t matter how busy we are if that busyness doesn’t lead us to accomplish anything of importance. Productivity is not about cramming more into our days but about doing the right thing in each moment.

#first read in 2019 I like his reading style and I like his attitude (check out his Podcast, it's interesting and funny and you get to know his fiancé).
Back to the book: It's basically divided in two parts. The first is about Hyperfocus (hence the title) and the second part is about scatterfocus (the counterpart if you will). I didn't find too many new things in the first part but it was absolutely worth reading the second part (and experimenting with his ideas).

Interesting idea of having moving cities and consider them superior over static cities. I would have loved to dig deeper into the differences between these different aspects of philosophies.
The book didn't make me want to start the next one immediately but I will probably read it at some point in time.

Read it a second time and I took notes this time. I didn’t had the capacity to organize them yet but I took a lot. Still a great book, all my previous points are still valid. -- Great book. Good setup. Every chapter starts with a story. Wrap-up at the end of each chapter. Download content on the webpage.
