Robert Cecil Martin: Clean Code (2008, Prentice Hall)

Review of 'Clean Code' on 'Goodreads'

The second time I read this book. The most important thing I learned again was that code doesn't have to suck. It can be clear and readable and it is totally in the hand of every developer whether he/she want's to create good or bad code. Having a pushy manager is no excuse at all.

Review of 'EinFach Deutsch Unterrichtsmodelle : Dave Eggers : Der Circle' on 'Goodreads'

It was entertaining read. The author spent the right amount of time to describe the current "normal" situation and the right amount to describe the dystopian situation getting worse and worse but the transition from one to the other happened fairly quickly. The author could have spent some more pages (30-50) describing the transition in more detail.

It's great stuff, Jeff is talking about but the style of writing is much more important to me. Jeff is also extraordinary here because he "eats is own dog food", he speaks about story telling while using stories. :-) Thats great. In the second part of the book, the story telling went in the background a little bit but it comes back closer to the end of the book. I also like his humor, on how he is interacting with the reader. It could be a bit more from time to time.

It's highly recommended if you need to visualize a part of a product or a whole product.

Simon Sinek: Start with why (2009, Portfolio)

Review of 'Start with why' on 'Goodreads'

I heard the audio book and I liked it. The speaker is Simon Sinek ( the author himself). In general I think it is a good idea to start with why but the book is too thick to share this more or less simple idea. Half the pages /time would have been enough. There is a good Ted Talk (www.ted.com/talks/simon_sinek_how_great_leaders_inspire_action) from Simon which pretty much sums up the idea of the book.
