A magical island with cozy characters
4,5 stars
I read (and reviewed) this book while camping in Sweden, huddled in a tent when it was raining outside. It was the perfect book for that. Starting with the main character Kiela fleeing the big city because of a revolution, the book quickly calms as she arrives at the small island she grew up in. With some help from her lovely neighbors she builds up a cottage again but quickly recognizes the island needs help to.
The book is a cozy fantasy and it's very easy to picture yourself on the island meeting all the characters. The characters work very well and the main cast has some depth. Don't expect too much discussion or charakter development apart from Kiela though. Instead you can expect quite a lot of action for a cozy fantasy novel and a lot of cute pets and special plants.
For me the easy-to-read book …

For me the easy-to-read book was exactly why I like the cozy fantasy genre so much ❣️
