I've like all of his books so far, but this is definitely one of my favorites. He describes the book perfectly in the postscript:

"So, I knew this book would have one foot in a whimsical space. I didn’t want a fairy tale, but I wanted something adjacent. However, I also didn’t want it to be too childlike. I wanted something my fans would enjoy: a grown-up fairy tale, so to speak."

And enjoy it I did. Aside from the story it has cute illustrations, very lovable characters and clever spins on fantasy tropes. It contains many references to the cosmere so it might not be good starting point for his books, unless you're good at ignoring those hints!

I didn't realize how much I've missed the Mistborn books :')

"Sozial ist etwas, auf das man Anspruch hat. Almosen sind, auch bei aller Freundlichkeit und Nettigkeit, gerade nicht sozial." fasst meine Haupterkenntnis ganz gut zusammen. Etwas schade fand ich das es eben primär um Tafelkritik ging und andere Aspekte von Armut in Deutschland nicht tiefgründiger angesprochen wurden. Auch wurde die Einführung von Hartz IV als negativer Wendepunkt aufgezeigt aber nicht soweit begründet dass mir jetzt klar wäre, ob mit dem Bürgergeld alles wieder in Ordnung ist oder es nur ein neuer Anstrich für den neoliberalen Staat ist.

Lacked a bit of variety compared to the first one but overall very fun to read. Only thing that annoyed me was again the inconsistency of her being the best assassin ever, but e.g. people sneaking into her trapped room to leave gifts while she sleeps.

Really like the subtle world building, the mute assassins plot is great and Ansel best girl don't @ me. But the plot twists are made too obvious imo which makes the greatest assassin look like an oblivous idiot.

The pacing is strange at times, but the ending and setting are great!
