Mir hats gefallen.Ich hatte mir nur den Klappentext grob angeschaut. Das setting erinnerte mich ein klein wenig an Witcher. Aber es ist doch weit genug entfernt, dass es nicht wie eine Kopie wirkt.
Die Geschichte liest sich schön, keine Strecken die sich ziehen. Und das Ende macht zumindest bei mir Lust auf mehr.

I was very much into this book at first. The world building is good, and the first few chapters have pretty fantastic prose and character introductions. It definitely will suck you in. However, towards the later half of the book I found myself feeling a bit disappointed with how some of the characters, and their relationships to each other, developed. Particularly Elo, who I grew to increasingly dislike despite my best wishes. It does end on a fairly good note--this book is definitely more of a 3.5 than a 3. If it weren't for those flagging and awkward moments, it could have easily been a 4. I just didn't feel compelled to hurry and …

Es hatte für mich ein wenig ein Mix aus Monstress im Sinne von Inara und ihre Gottheit, die fest mit ihr verbunden ist, und The Witcher durch die Veiga und Kyssen insbesondere. Kyssen ist auch eine mürrische, gebrandmarkte (wortwörtlich) Person, die schwer Leute an sich lässt und Schwäche sowie Emotionen zeigt. Ich bin jetzt nicht so eine Person, die gute Plot-Twists auf Meilen erkennt, aber in Godkiller waren einige Dinge schon schnell abzusehen. Für ein Debüt-Roman muss ich Hannah Kaner schon Respekt zollen, auch wenn die Geschichte absehbar ist. Sie ist gut erzählt, hat eine spannende Welt und Charaktere, die eine schöne Found-Family bilden, sich entwickeln und unterschiedlich und liebenswürdig wirken.

Die Atmosphäre der Welt wirkte zerrüttet nach dem Krieg, in einigen Teilen gefährlich und kalt und Blenraden als ein unheimlicher und heimgesuchter Ort. Das Ende offenbarte dann doch einen spannenden Twist, leicht herzzerreißenden Moment und gute Überleitung in den zweiten Band.
Das ist vermutlich auch mein stärkster Kritikpunkt: Es endet schon mit einem harten Cliff-Hanger. Wünschenswerter fände ich einen runderen Abschluss, der erst im nächsten Band dann fortgeführt wird und nicht schon direkt in diesem Band geteastert. Es fühlte sich an dieser Stelle an wie ein Serienende und ich finde das bei Filmen und Fernsehserien schon häufig anstrengend. Nun sind ab nächstem Jahr alle 3 Bücher erschienen und dieser Punkt ist weniger dramatisch, aber wenn ich wie bei Lied von Eis und Feuer Jahre auf einen neuen Band warten würde, dann muss so ein Cliff-Hanger echt nicht sein.
I really liked the character development and growth. I liked the world, the gods, the mystery, and the fairly smooth way the main characters end up journeying together.
