The book describes end-of-days prophecies coming true in Jerusalem, through the eyes of Jewish, Muslim, Christian, and secular characters. But the most blazing universal truths affirmed by this book over and over again are:
falafel and shawarma are delicious
a protagonist who's a sorta smart, sorta awkward middle aged male will always end up having sex with a glamorous younger woman who is weirdly into him
And really, no reader would seriously question either argument.
Other than that, at least the plot really goes for it. Huge things happen from the Bible and Quran, never offstage but directly in front of our p.o.v. characters.
