I absolutely adore this book. Joanna Ho's choice of words are beautifully poetic. The underlying themes of self-acceptance and pride in family is noteworthy. The main character has pride in the shape of her eyes because they are like the family that has come before and after her. It is a symbol to her and this theme ultimately leads to her description of the eyes being revolutionary. The illustrator has vibrant colors and does a wonderful job of depicting elements of Asian culture. I highly suggest this book to educators everywhere!
