Hamelin, 1283/4 – Frida has buried her husband and children. Now she clings to the only thing she has left: her shoemaker's workshop – until Marek is forced upon her as a journeyman. A very sweet, slow burn romance set in a thoroughly researched and detailed medieval world

I very much enjoyed reading this book, I loved the slow pace and the way tension only gradually rises until it peaks just before the resolution.

A large part of the appeal of this tale is the detailed world the characters live in, set in the town of Hamelin (which actually does exist!). It is an industrious, full world that includes family intrigue, jealousy, pain and grief - but also love, caring and hope.

In the end, that caring and hope finds different outlets for different characters that perfect fit the historical situation. (I don't want to spoil anything, but the Pied Piper does have his moment.)

Definitely recommend!
