After embarking on a pleasure cruise, bookish young Humphrey van Weyden finds himself shipwrecked amidst a terrible storm. When he is picked up by a passing vessel, he initially believes he has been rescued by kind saviours. But Humphrey soon finds out that he has in fact boarded the GHOST - a seal-hunting ship captained by the incisive philosopher, brutal despot, and utterly terrifying Wolf Larsen.
