Hannah Steenbock hat A Heart of Gold and Glass von Jocelynn Drake besprochen (Secret Fairy Tales, #1)
A Fairytale Retelling that's Refreshing and Healing
5 Sterne
When Jocelynn Drake first talked about this book on her Patreon page, I cringed internally. Because I don't like fairytale retellings, and that's what this book is at its core.
Well, guess what? I utterly loved this book.
Told entirely from the perspective of Hugo Baker, a young man with "useless magic", this story is cute, adorable, uplifting and healing. And it turns the old Rumpelstiltskin story around in a way that I won't spoil but which is ultimately most satisfying.
This will become a comfort book not just because I love a prince who isn't arrogant and selfish, but because it deals with a lot of pain in families and how hatred can cause more pain unless old wounds are actively taken care of. It's definitely bigger than a simple love story, and that's part of why I enjoy Jocelynn Drake's books so much.

In other words - go and read this, if you like MM romance with more than a touch of magic and a bigger story beyond the romance. Just be aware there is some spice when our heroes enjoy more intimate moments.
